
The eight-day-long Victory Day Tennis tournament starts at the Ramna Tennis Complex in the city on Friday.
A total of 210 players from 30 clubs and organisations from across the country split into eight categories and are expecting to compete in the tournament, offering a purse of Tk 3.35 lakh prize money and trophies.
The men’s and women’s singles and doubles events will be counted under the purview of cash prizes alongside trophies and certificates, while the under-18 boys’ and girls’ singles and the under-14 boys’ and girls’ singles events participants and winners will be awarded with trophies and certificates.
Bangladesh Tennis Federation president and Purbani Group chairman Abdul Hai Sarkar is expected to inaugurate the tournament as the chief guest.
Tournament sponsor organisation ‘Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC’ chairman AK Azad will grace the inauguration ceremony as the special guest.
BTF tournament committee convener Shafiqul Islam Sarkar was named the tournament director to manage the event in a good manner.
The BTF secretary, Ishtiaq Ahmed, disclosed the details in a press conference at the BTF complex on Thursday.
