A video of popular actor Somu Chowdhury circulating on social media since Thursday afternoon created concerns among his admirers and colleagues.
Somu Chowdhury is now staying at the Mukhi Shah Miskin shrine in Mymensingh鈥檚 Gaffargaon to participate in an annual event there.
In the video, Somu is seen lying on a mat under a tree, wearing only a piece of cloth, locally known as 鈥榞amchha鈥�.
Many Facebook posts claimed that he was suffering from mental disorder, causing concerns to many.
Actors Equity Bangladesh general secretary Rashed Mamun Apu confirmed that Somu Chowdhury was now staying at the Mukhi Shah Miskin shrine to spend his Eid holidays.
鈥榃e have talked with him many times after the post got viral on social media and his family also communicated with him after the rumour spread,鈥� Rashed Mamun Apu said, adding that Somu Chowdhury will be back in Jashore after the event at the shrine.
Pagla police officer-in-charge Ferdous Alam said that after the rumour spread on social media, they visited the Mukhi Shah Miskin shrine and found Somu Chowdhury stable and participating in the event.
鈥楬e is stable mentally and physically, but we were concerned about his security,鈥� Ferdous Alam said, adding that some police members are staying with him at the event in the shrine.聽
