
Renowned artist Mustafa Monwar has been put on life support at Square Hospital in the capital.
Wife of Mustafa Monwar, Merry Monwar, said that the artist had been suffering from respiratory problems and age-related complications.
‘He is on life support from Saturday, and his condition is still unchanged. I urge all to pray for him,’ she said.Â
Mustafa Monwar was jailed in 1952 for drawing anti-Pakistan cartoons during the Language Movement.
He served as director general of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and the National Media Institute, the managing director of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation and the chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
He is widely known as a puppeteer dedicated to children’s educational entertainment.
