Grameenphone has recently launched ‘GP Shield’, a next-generation, Cisco-powered DNS-layer security solution designed to protect customers from rising online threats such as malware, ransomware and phishing attacks, said a press release.

As digital adoption accelerates across Bangladesh, individuals and businesses are increasingly exposed to harmful links, data-theft attempts and malicious online activity.

GP Shield directly addresses this emerging threat landscape, integrating Cisco’s industry-leading threat intelligence into Grameenphone’s network.

With no app, no downloads and zero device storage requirements, users can enjoy seamless real-time protection from cyber threats, the release said.

Farha Naz Zaman, chief marketing officer of Grameenphone, said, ‘At Grameenphone, safeguarding our customers’ online journeys is as important as providing strong connectivity. GP Shield is our promise to protect the trust that our customers place in us by making safety a built-in part of how they experience the internet. Through this initiative, we want every customer to explore, learn, and live online with confidence.’

Customers can subscribe to GP Shield conveniently through MyGP app, choosing between Tk 50 per month or Tk 500 per year.

Chief business officer Asif Naimur Rashid said, ‘Digital progress must go hand in hand with digital safety. GP Shield extends our responsibility beyond access and toward protection, reliability, and trust. With this launch, we look forward to continuing our journey of transforming internet connectivity into a secure experience that empowers Bangladesh’s citizens and enterprises to grow fearlessly in the digital space.’
