After witnessing a downward trend in the last session, stocks on Wednesday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, added 37.1 points to settle at 4,777 points as against 4,740 points in the previous trading session. 


Market analysts observed that market indices remained upbeat throughout the session as buyers showed renewed interest in the potentially lucrative scrips. 

However, trading activities remained stagnant with total turnover on the DSE being low at Tk 3.3 billion. 

On the sectoral front, food (20.1 per cent) issues exerted the highest turnover,  followed by pharma (15.4 per cent) and bank (12.4 per cent) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed positive returns, out of which jute (3.9 per cent), food (2.7 per cent) and general insurance (2.6 per cent) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse today, while only mutual fund (-0.4 per cent) and IT (-0.2 per cent) exerted some corrections.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange, also settled on a positive zone. The Selective Categories’ Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) advanced by 15.0 points and 23.8 points respectively.Â
