A complaint was filed on Tuesday against Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader, secretary general Shamim Haider Patwary, and 166 party activists accusing them of attacking Gono Odhikar Parishad leaders and activists and its affiliated bodies.

Gono Odhikar Parishad’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad organising secretary Akteruzzaman Samrat Majhi filed the complaint with the Ramna police, naming 18 people and 100–150 unidentified ones.


Confirming the matter, Ramna police officer-in-charge Golam Faruq told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they were verifying whether the incident occurred within its jurisdiction.

Further action would be taken after the verification, he said.

The named accused also included JP presidium members Hazi Saifuddin Ahmed Milon and Alamgir Sikder Loton, joint office secretary Mahmud Hasan, Jatiya Chhatra Shamaj’s Dhaka Metropolitan North unit president Mashiur Rahman Jisan, JP activists Shohag Khan, Solaiman Hossain and Shamim Ahmed, JP Gournadi Thana unit organising secretary Shravan Sikder, Jatiya Chhatra Shamaj president Al-Manun, general secretary Ashraful Alam Khan and member Shahdat Hossain.

According to the complaint, the accused launched a pre-planned attack on August 29 on Gono Odhikar Parishad leaders and activists and its affiliated organisations with an intention to kill them.

On August 29, more than 50 people were injured as a clash broke out between activists of Jatiya Party and Gono Odhikar Parishad in front of the JP central office at Bijoynagar in Dhaka city.
