Of them, 10 people were detained in Dhaka, seven in Chattogram and five others were held in Cumilla, the police said.

Reports received from the districts said that the flash processions were brought out demanding the resignation of Professom Muhammad Yunus-led interim government.

The activities of the Awami League are now banned in the country.

In Dhaka, the police detained six individuals from the Shyamoli area and four others from the Motijheel area for taking part in the Awami League’s flash processions in the areas.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s deputy commissioner for Tejgaon Division, Md Ibne Mizan, said that the activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League tried to bring out a procession near Shishu Mela at about 8:00am on Tuesday.

‘The police noticed that a few people gathered at one place in the morning. On suspicion, the police started questioning them. At that time, the protesters hurled multiple cocktails,’ he said.

The police detained six individuals from the spot while others managed to flee, DC Mizan said, adding that the police also seized a motorcycle from the spot.

The police detained four others for participating in a procession at Shapla Chattar in the Motijheel area Tuesday afternoon, according to a DMP press release.

They were arrested for their alleged involvement in activities to destablise the country, said a DMP press release issued on Tuesday.
