
Jatiya Party chairman Ghulam Muhammad Quader on Saturday said that the interim government was trying to hold the next general election by excluding some political parties and keeping half of the voters of the country out of the polls.
Such kind of election will not be acceptable at home and abroad, the Jatiya Party chief said while addressing a rally of the leaders of Dhaka district of the party in front of its Kakrail central office.
He said that his party wanted the next general election be held in a free, fair and credible manner with the participation of all political parties.
He alleged that the interim government had failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the country and wanted to rule the country against the spirit of the 1971 liberation war.
The JP chief said that his party supported the students and people鈥檚 uprising of July and also remained against the fascist rule of the Awami League.聽聽聽
He called on the interim government to hold a free, fair and inclusive general election as early as possible for the democratic transition of the country.
Chaired by the party鈥檚 Dhaka south city convener Mir Abdus Sabur Asud, the rally was addressed, among others, by the party secretary general Shamim Haider Patwary.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different roads in the capital.
