Leaders of Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, on Tuesday at a discussion meeting called on all to stay united regarding holding the next general elections in February to prevent the country from plunging into crisis.

The platform organised the discussion meeting at Dhaka Reporters Unity on the country’s latest political situation with Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD senior vice-president Tania Rob in chair.


Nagarik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna said that the country might face serious political crisis if next general elections would not be held in next February.

He called on all the political parties and others forces to remain united for holding a free, fair and credible general election.

Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq said that the interim government must stay true to its word about holding a free, fair and credible general election in February.

Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki said that the political parties after holding discussions in the consensus commission came to agreement about in some political issues.

Ratification of the issues needed people’s approval for which holding the next general election was a must, Saki said.

Chairman of Bhashani Onusari Parishad Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu said that there was no alternative of holding the next general polls in February to overcome the current political crisis.

Rastra Sanskar Andolan central leader Didarul Bhuiyan said that people were eagerly waiting for casting their votes in the next general elections.
