A man named Shahdat Hossain Rohan has been accused of raping a woman in Dhaka鈥檚 Kamrangirchar area under the pretext of marriage.
Rohan, a resident of Hazaribagh, is a member of the National Citizen Party, alleged the victim.
Rohan had mentioned that he worked for Jatiya Nagarik Committee on his verified Facebook account Shahadat Rehman Rohan
NCP joint convener Joynal Abedin Shishir denied that no one named Rohan was associated with the party and said that there was no formal NCP committee at Hazaribagh.
The newly floated party emerged with representatives from the Jatiya Nagarik Committee and the Students Against Discrimination that spearheaded the July uprising.
Kamrangirchar police station officer-in-charge Aminur Rahman said that a complaint was lodged on Sunday against Rohan.
鈥楢 25-year-old woman has lodged the complaint and it is under investigation, he said, adding that rape case would be registered if evidence was found.
The victim told 抖阴精品 on Monday that she first went to Hazaribagh police station as the accused was from Hazaribagh, but the police denied taking the complaint there.
Later, she went to Kamrangirchar police station reporting the rape allegedly committed in June 2024, she said.
Victim鈥檚 relatives and the police confirmed that some NCP leaders visited the station, stating that they had no objection to legal action if the accused was found guilty, but insisted that he should not be falsely implicated.
They, however, did not named the leaders.
