Leaders of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist) at a commemorative meeting in Dhaka on Friday said that the founding general secretary of the party Mubinul Haider Chowdhury worked for establishing a repression-free country.

The SPB organised the meeting to mark the fourth anniversary of death of Mubinul Haider Chowdhury at the National Press Club.

Chairing the meeting, SPB coordinator Masud Rana said that Mubinul Haider Chowdhury worked for the establishment of the rights of the common people.

‘He also worked for reducing the gap between the rich and the poor in the country,’ mentioned Masud Rana, adding, ‘The SPB has been working for establishing the ideals of Mubinul Haider Chowdhury.’

Joydeep Bhattacharya, central leader of the party, who was also a close associate of Mubinul, said that he was a true politician who never thought anything but welfare of the common people.

Mentioning that Mubinul Haider formed the SPB on April 12 in 2013, Jaydeep said that he took political training from the Indian Marxist Shibdash Ghosh in his early life in Kolkata and returned in Bangladesh after the War of Independence and wanted to establish a repression-free country.

Another central leader Shima Datta said that Mubinul believed that without establishing rights of the women in the society, formation of balanced society could not be possible.

Central leader Rashed Shahrier conducted the programme.

Mubinul Haider Chowdhury passed away on July 6 in 2021.

Different political parties and organisations placed wreaths on the portrait of the leader at the programme.
