
The Ganosamhati Andolan on Tuesday began their month-long programmes to mark the first anniversary of the July-August mass uprising in 2024.
The party began its programmes by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar on the Dhaka University campus in the morning.
Addressing the event, the party chief coordinator Zonayed Saki said that they would continue their movement to implement the spirit of the uprising that ousted the authoritarian regime of Sheikh Hasina on August 5, 2024.
He alleged that some vested quarters were trying to foil the achievements of the uprising and hurled bombs in front of Ganosamhati Andolan central office at Hatirpool in Dhaka on Monday to create anarchy.
The party executive coordinator, Abul Hassan Rubel, and central leaders Taslima Akhter and Monir Uddin Pappu, among others, spoke in the short rally at the Central Shaheed Minar.
The Socialist Party of Bangladesh in a statement on Tuesday condemned Monday鈥檚 bomb blasts in front of the Ganosamhai Andolan central office.
The party coordinator Masud Rana demanded immediate arrest of and exemplary punishment for those involved in hurling the bombs.
He urged the interim government to take steps to implement the spirit of the July uprising.
The SPB will hold a rally in front of the National Press Club on Thursday at 3:00pm to mark the first anniversary of the July uprising, the party general secretary Bazlur Rashid Firoz said in a party discussion meeting at its central office on Tuesday.
Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, will announce its programmes to mark the uprising at a press conference at Nagarik Oikya central office Thursday morning.
