The Bangladesh Nationalist Party delegation, led by its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, returned to Dhaka Friday night, following a five-day official visit to China at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

The Charg茅 d鈥橝ffaires of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka received the delegation at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.


The nine-member delegation included standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Selima Rahman, party chairperson鈥檚 advisory council member Ismail Zabiullah, Sukomal Barua, Zahir Uddin Swapan, BNP media cell convenor Maudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel and the chairperson鈥檚 personal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.

The delegation left Dhaka on June 22 and arrived in Beijing on the following morning.

During the visit, the nine-member delegation engaged in meetings with senior CPC leaders and Chinese ministers.

The discussions focused on strengthening party-to-party ties, regional geopolitics and future Bangladesh-China cooperation in trade, education and high-tech sectors, the delegation members said.

The BNP reiterated its support for China鈥檚 One China policy and praised the Belt and Road Initiative, while expressing interest in greater Chinese participation in Bangladesh鈥檚 development projects.

The team visited smart villages and hi-tech zones in Xi鈥檃n, toured infrastructure corporations in Beijing and attended formal receptions and cultural events hosted by CPC officials.

The visit was marked as a significant step in bolstering bilateral and strategic engagement between the two parties.

The CPC extended a formal invitation to BNP鈥檚 acting chairman Tarique Rahman to visit China in the future.
