
Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader AZM Zahid Hossain has said that the meeting between chief adviser Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has prevailed the way of peace and ended many chaos and misunderstanding in the political arena.
‘If you observe the situation in Bangladesh before and after the meeting, you will see that different forms of chaos and unrest decreased, restoring peace and order,’ he said.
‘People are now hoping for an election, which many quarters tried to shatter,’ he added.
Zahid, a member of the BNP standing committee, was addressing a discussion titled The Leadership of the National Hero Ziaur Rahman and the Present Bangladesh’ organised by the Nationalist Research Foundation at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday.
He said that bringing back people’s power and their ownership in the state through arranging a fair election at the earliest would benefit the nation and the democracy.
NRF convener Syed Abdal Ahmed chaired the event, which was moderated by its member secretary Farid Uddin Ahmed.
Former Dhaka University teacher Professor Tajmeri SA Islam, dean of the faculty of social science of Jahangirnagar University Professor Shamsul Alam Selim, BNP media cell convener Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel, international affairs secretary Nasir Uddin Ahmed Asi, and acting chairman’s adviser Mahdi Amin, among others, also spoke at the programme.
