Jatiya Party chairman Ghulam Muhammed Quader said on Thursday that the interim government headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus was adamant to hold the next general election ‘unilaterally’.

But this sort of unilateral election like the ones by the government of Sheikh Hasina would not bring fruitful results GM Quader said at a party meeting held at his Banani office.

He said that keeping the political parties who represented 50 per cent of the total voters out of the elections would not be acceptable both at home and abroad.

Moreover, many voters would not cast their votes in such an election and the election would loss it credibility, GM Quader said.

Chaired by secretary general of the party Mujibul Haque Chunnu, presidium members Shamim Haider Patwari, Jahirul Islam Jahir, Liakat Hossain Khoka, Moirul Islam Milon and others attended the meeting, a party press release said.
