
The amir of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Shafiqur Rahman, said on Tuesday that their party was ready to take part in the next general elections anytime if a level playing field was ensured.
While speaking at a press conference, organised by the party at聽聽 Hotel Sheraton in Banani in the capital on the occasion of withdrawal of a ban imposed by the fascist Awami League government after a verdict of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court overturned the ban,聽聽聽聽 Shafiqur Rahman said that the next general elections adding that the elections should be held by February in 2026 before next Ramadan.
Otherwise, it would be difficult to hold the general elections due to bad weather, Shafiqur said.聽聽
Replying to a question of a reporter, Shafiqur Rahman said that their party was ready to take part in the next general elections anytime if a level playing field was ensured by the Election Commission.
Shafiqur said that after a successful student-led mass uprising, fascist rule ended on August 5, but fascism still existed in the country.
Some central leaders of Jamaat, members of diplomatic mission of different countries and leaders of some other political parties attended the press conference.
