Jatiya Party leaders on Friday demanded arrest of the attackers who allegedly vandalised the house of the party鈥檚 chairman Ghulam Muhammed Quader in his residence in Rangpur in his presence on Thursday night.

They also announced that they would hold countrywide protests today, Saturday, condemning the attack.

The announcement was made at a rally organised in front of party鈥檚 Bijoynagar central office in the capital on Friday.

Chairing the rally, JP secretary general Mujibul Haque Chunnu said that the interim government headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus failed to ensure safety and security of its citizens in their over eight month rule.

Demanding arrest of the attackers, he alleged that some activists of National Citizen Party were behind the attack.

Presidium members of the party, Mir Abdus Sabur, Mohammad Rezaul Karim Bhuiyan, Liakat Hossain Khoka, Jahirul Islam Jahir, office secretary Mahmud Alam and others were present at the rally.

A group of miscreants attacked GM Quader鈥檚 house, vandalised some parts of the house and set fire to a motorcycle parked in the house compound at Senpara in Rangpur city on Thursday night, 抖阴精品 correspondent in Rangpur reported.

Earlier in the day, GM Quader had arrived in Rangpur and gave an interview at his residence, addressing the country鈥檚 political situation and his party鈥檚 position.

In response to his presence in Rangpur, Students Against Discrimination called for protests, demanding the arrest of GM Quader and a ban on the Jatiya Party, labelling it an ally of the Awami League.

The protesters gathered near the Rangpur Press Club and later brought out processions on key city roads and reached the Grand Hotel crossing heading towards Senpara, where the attack occurred.

Imtiaz Ahmed Imti, Rangpur City coordinator of Students Against Discrimination, meanwhile, claimed in a Facebook post that the JP members had attacked their rally in Senpara.

NCP Rangpur city organiser Alamgir Kabir also denied their involvement in the attack.
