Immigration officials at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport barred Bangladesh Jatiya Party chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho鈥檚 wife Sheikh Shaira Rahman and their youngest daughter to go Thailand on Tuesday afternoon.
Confirming the matter, Andaleeve Rahman Partho said that his wife and daughter were barred to go to Thailand by immigration officials at the Dhaka Airport at about 1:30pm on Tuesday.
鈥業 think that my wife was barred to go to Thailand as she is a member of the Sheikh family. We don鈥檛 know about the clearance issue. My wife and daughter were going to Thailand for travel purpose. As we respect the country鈥檚 law and order, my wife and daughter will go to aboard after taking necessary permission,鈥� Andaleeve told 抖阴精品.
He said that immigration officials had tightened its measures following former president Abdul Hamid鈥檚 departure.聽
Andaleeve鈥檚 wife Shaira is daughter Sheikh Helal, cousin of ousted Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Police鈥檚 Special Branch senior officials, could not be reached for comment over the issue.
In the early hours of May 9, former president Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for Bangkok for medical treatment by a flight of Thai Airways from HSIA that drew protests and criticism.
