
At least six policemen were injured in a clash over the annual general meeting of two Bangladesh Nationalist Party professional groups at Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh in Dhaka city on Saturday afternoon.
Police came under attack at about 12:10pm on Saturday when followers of IEB president Riazul Islam, also BNP science and technology affairs secretary and former IEB honourary general secretary Mia Md Qaiyum, also former Jatiytabadi Chhtra Dal BUET unit president, locked in a clash over the AGM, said police officials.
Shahbagh police station officer-in-charge Khalid Mansur said that six policemen were injured as protesters threw brickbats targeting police members.
‘We have detained one for interrogation,’ the OC added.
