Leaders of different political parties at a discussion in Dhaka on Sunday said that the interim government should hold the general election as early as possible as confusions were created among the people of the country regarding the election.

They also urged the government to address the issues of trials of fascists and reforms of the constitution at the discussion organised by the Rashtra Sanskar Andolan at the National Press Club.


Chairing the discussion, Hasnat Quaiyum, chief coordinator of the Rashtra Sanskar Andolan, said that the interim government was delaying holding trials of the fascists and reforms and as a result confusions were created among the people of the country regarding the election.

He called on the interim government to take steps for holding the general elections as early as possible in a free, fair and credible manner.

The main task of the interim government is implementing the spirits of July uprising and the government should be more accountable to the people, said Zonayed Saki, chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolan.

Amar Bangladesh Party chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju said that the pro-uprising political parties should remain united so that the interim government could implement the spirits of the uprising.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon said that the national unity of the political parties should be continued until implementations of the spirits of the uprising.

Coordinator of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh Masud Rana demanded early democratic transition of the country after holding the general election.

Central leaders of Rashtra Sanskar Andolan Didarul Bhuiyan, Golam Shafik and Sheikh Nasiruddin, among others, spoke at the discussion.
