Eminent left leaning leader Jakir Hossain Hobi died at his residence in Jashore town on Saturday evening, said Iqbal Kabir Jahid, general secretary of Biplabi Communist League.
He was 74.
Iqbal Kabir Jahid said that Jakir Hossain breathed his last at about 6:30pm on Saturday.
Jakir Hossain was a member of the central committee of Biplabi Communist League and he is survived by his wife, a son, and two daughters, he added.
鈥楾he leader was suffering from old age complications,鈥� Iqbal Kabir said, adding, 鈥榟e will be buried in Jashore after his janaza prayers on Sunday.鈥�
He also said that the body would be kept on the party office premises for placing tributes at 12:00pm on Sunday.
