It holds its first nat’l confce

Amar Bangladesh Party central leaders Mojiur Rahman Monju and lawyer Asaduzzaman Fuad became party’s chairman and general secretary respectively for next three years.


They were elected at the first council session of the party held at Suhrawary Udyan on Saturday.

At the opening session, Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that after the fall of the fascist Sheikh Hasina government scope was created for democratic transition of the country.

‘We want reforms and at the same time an early general election, as the present crisis will be resolved if an elected government comes to power,’ Mirza Fakhrul said.

Nagarik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, convener of Jatiya Nagorik Committee Nasiruddin Patwary, Liberal Democratic Party secretary general Redowan Ahmed, Gono Odhikar Parishad general secretary Mohammad Rashed and others spoke at the opening session.

The daylong council session of the party was held at the Udyan on Friday where the councillors and delegates of the party cast their votes to elect central committee of the party, a press release said.

The result was announced electing the party chairman, general secretary and 21 executive members of the party on the day.

A total of 1,689 voters from across the country cast their votes.

AB Party was formed on May 3, 2020, splitting Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
