
At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two factions of the BNP in Village Char Dumuria under Sadar upazila in Munshiganj on Saturday.
Five of the injured - Jarina Begum, Didar Miah, Amena Begum, Apu Kha and Ibrahim Kha - sustained bullet injuries and are now having treatment at hospitals in Dhaka and Munshiganj. The clash occurred over establishing supremacy over the area, the police said. Witnesses said that the clash occurred between the supporters of the Switzerland BNP member Rahim Mollah and local BNP activist Awalad Mollah at village Char Dumuria.
On Friday, supporters of the group locked in an altercation at a tea stall.
Following the altercation, the groups armed with firearms clashed on Saturday morning.
Munshiganj General Hospital鈥檚 emergency medical officer Shahriar Ferdous said that they referred the bullet-injured people to Dhaka for better treatment.
Munshiganj Sadar police station inspector Sazib Dey said that the police visited the village after the clash.
He said that no case was filed and none was arrested till filing this report at about 9:00pm on Saturday.
