The leaders of Communist Party of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal- BSD on Wednesday expressed concern over provocation of sectarian unrest in the country.

They also expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in several areas across the country.


CPB general secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince and BSD joint general secretary Razequzzaman Ratan met with home affairs adviser lieutenant general (retired) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the Secretariat to express their concerns, said a press release.

Expressing concern over the attacks on religious minorities at Doarabazar in Sunamganj and at Swarupkathi in Pirojpur, the leaders urged the government to take effective measures to prevent such incidents and to bring the persons involved to book.

The leaders further urged the government to investigate and reveal the truth about the previous attacks also, identify those involved and bring the masterminds to justice.

They said that the government should ensure that such incidents could not be used as political tools domestically and internationally.

They stressed the importance of sending strict messages to local administrations and working with the public to ensure the safety of all, especially religious minorities.

The adviser told the leaders that actions were taken regarding the attacks, said the release.

Seeking everyone’s cooperation, the adviser affirmed the government’s commitment to improving law and order and ensuring the safety of people’s lives and property, regardless of religion or community.
