A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party was relieved of his organisational position a day after several audio clips of him seeking money from a person accused in a case went viral on social media on Thursday.
The relieved JCD leader is Saimon Reza, a member of Rajshahi city JCD鈥檚 Boalia (west) Thana unit.
A press release issued by JCD central committee office secretary Jahangir Alam on Friday night stated that according to the decision of the JCD central committee, Saimon Reza was relieved of his post based on specific allegations of breaching the party鈥檚 organisational discipline.
Earlier on Thursday, JCD Rajshahi city unit general secretary Khandakar Maksudur Rahman shared several audio clips on his Facebook wall where a person with the same voice as Saimon was heard demanding money from Payel, who once worked as a police source, for withdrawing his name from a case.
Saimon Reza filed the case with the Boalia police station against 105 Awami League and Chhatra League leaders and activists, including Rajshahi city AL general secretary Dablu Sarkar, on October 27 over the incident of carrying out attacks on a student-led procession during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5.
