
The police have arrested an expelled local leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party in connection with an attacks on businesses in Koyra upazila of Khulna.
The arrested Nurul Amin Babul, 40, has recently been expelled as member secretary of Koyra upazila BNP.
Koyra police station inspector (investigation) Md Shah Alam confirmed the arrest Saturday night.
According to police, a case was filed against 14 people, including Babul, on Saturday in connection with the attacks on some businesses in Koyra Bazar on Thursday, leaving several businessmen injured.
Besides, there are allegations of extortion and grabbing fish enclosures against Babul.
On Thursday, Babul was expelled from all positions of BNP, including his primary membership, due to violations of party discipline.
