
Information and broadcasting adviser M Nahid Islam on Friday said that the interim government had a plan to bring more sectors, including education and mass media, under reform programme.
‘As part of the ‘state reform programme’, six committees have been formed and meeting of those have already been held. The reform committees will begin their work from October,’ he said.
Nahid came with the comments while distributing food assistance among the flood affected people on Bangakha High School and Jadiya Fazil Madrasha premises after visiting two flood-hit unions of Sadar upazila.
‘The commission will prepare the outline of the reform through discussion with the concerned officials and experts,’ he said, adding that reform would begin according to their recommendations.
‘The trial of the fascists will be held on the soil of this country,’ Nahid affirmed.
‘Magistracy power has been given to the army and we hope that as a result the law and order will improve soon,’ the adviser continued.
Nahid said that the government would undertake programme for rehabilitation of the flood affected people within quickest possible time.
‘Flood water of Laxmipur is receding slowly as the canals of the district are occupied by the encroachers. People are returning back to their homes after receding flood water,’ he said.
Nahid said that steps would be taken to free all canals of the district from illegal encroachment. The government had already disbursed fund for reconstruction of homes destroyed in flood.
Deputy commissioner of Laxmipur Rajib Kumar Sarker and other local high officials were present.
