Ministers and state ministers of the overthrown government who were living in government bungalows in the capital’s Mintu Road fled from their residences as the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post on Monday and also fled the country amid students-led mass uprising.
Security guards of the resident buildings confirmed that at least nine ministers or state ministers who used to live in the bungalow left the residence in the last three days with their families.
However, they couldn’t give any information as to where they are staying now.
Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post following a violent student protest where over 300 people-mostly students- were killed and scores of others were also killed.
Visiting the bungalows on Monday, only security guards were seen in alert mood.
They said that several protesters came in search of the ministers.
‘We are now panicked, we are feeling insecurity,’ said Akter Hossain, an Ansar member and security guard of house no-33.
Ousted government’s food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder used to live in the house.
Among others, liberation war affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque lived in house no-1, industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun lived in house no-4, local government minister lived in house no-seven, and state minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury lived in house no 2. All have fled their residences.
Protesting people vandalized entry gates, windows and balconies of the bungalow for the foreign minister and industries minister, said the security guards of the houses.
Several Ansar members and police were deployed for the security of the residence.
The security guards said that they were instructed not to confront any people but to keep the gates shut.
They said that in the prevailing situation they were panicked.
