Houses of at least four lawmakers came under attack in Barishal, Lakshmipur and Sirajganj on Sunday during the student protests with their one-point demand for the resignation of the government.

抖阴精品 correspondent in Barishal reported that home of state minister for water resources Zahid Faruk Shamim was vandalised in the Battala area in Barishal at about 12:30pm, leaving Zahid and seven to eight Awami League activists injured.


Witnesses said that hundreds of youths suddenly attacked the house of state minister and tore down all the banners and festoons in front of the house.

Protestors also torched motorcycles parked in front of the house, they added.

AL activists, meanwhile, brought out a protest procession on Sadar Road and later set the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party office on fire.

They also vandalised Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city at about 1:00pm.

Besides, houses of Lakhsmipur-2 lawmaker Nur Uddin Chowdhury, and district Juba League president AKM Salahuddin Tipu came under attack in Lakshmipur.

United News of Bangladesh reported that the protesters vandalised and torched houses of AL lawmakers Jannat Ara Henry and Choyon Islam elected from Sirajganj-2 and 6 seats.

Earlier, houses of education minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury and聽 Chattogram City Corporation mayor Rezaul Karim came under attack in the port city on Saturday evening during the ongoing student protests demanding justice for killings of people and students.

Chhatra League and Juba League activists, meanwhile, allegedly attacked houses of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, former Chattogram city unit BNP president Shahadat Hossain and city unit BNP leader Ershad Ullah at about 9:00pm in the Mehedibagh area.
