
Leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance, Anti-fascism Left Alliance and some other left parties demanded resignation of the Awami League government for its failure to resolve the ongoing crisis of the country politically and its atrocities to control student protests demanding reform of the quota system in government jobs.
At a meeting held at the Communist Party of Bangladesh central office at Purana Paltan, the leaders said on Tuesday that the Awami League government failed to solve peacefully problems of the students, and committed atrocities by which law enforcers killed at least 163 people.
Moreover, curfew was enforced, and all the educational institutions across the country were closed, they said.
They demanded immediate resignation of Sheikh Hasina’s government for the atrocities.
They also demanded withdrawal of the curfew, reopening of all educational institutions and fulfilling the nine-point demand of the students immediately.
Chaired by Bazlur Rashid Firoz, coordinator of the LDA, a combine of six left political parties, the meeting was attended by CPB president Mohammad Shah Alam, general secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, assistant general secretary of SPB Razequzzaman Ratan, Revolutionary Communist League general secretary Iqbal Kabir Jahid, Democratic Revolutionary Party general secretary Mushrefa Mishu, SPB(Marxist) coordinator Masud Rana, Bangladesh Jasod general secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan, Anti-fascism Left Alliance coordinator Jafar Hossain and others, a press release said.
