The Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal on Thursday termed the proposed budget for the financial year 2024-25 as looter-friendly and said that it would increase sufferings of the ordinary people.
In a press statement, the president of the party, Sharif Nurul Ambia, and general secretary Nazmul Haque Prodhan said that the proposed budget, which was placed in Jatiya Sangsad on June 6, would not be effective to recover money from bank loan defaulters.
It would encourage looters as it provided them with the opportunity to legalise the undisclosed money giving 15 per cent taxes.
Moreover, the budget has given no indication of stopping corruption, they said, adding that in the name of mega projects it would encourage mega corruption.
They also said that the ordinary people were suffering much for inflation and price hikes of essential commodities, but the budget gave no specific indication of controlling the inflation and reducing price hikes of the essential commodities.
According to the proposed budget, the government will take loans from banks to fund its deficit and it will create new crisis in the economy of the country, they said.
They called on the government to formulate an ordinary people friendly budget.
