The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Friday asked prime minister Sheikh Hasina to clarify who was conspiring to make a new state.

BNP vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu came up with the demand while addressing a sit-in programme in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka staged by the Gonotontro Forum demanding the release of party chairperson Khaleda Zia and other leaders and activists.

Dudu said, 鈥楾he usurper prime minister yesterday [Thursday] talked about 鈥渨hite skin鈥濃t is a serious thing. I demand聽prime minister鈥檚 clear statement about this white skin.鈥

Earlier on Thursday, prime minister and ruling Awami League president Sheikh Hasina told a press conference that a conspiracy was going on to create a Christian state comprising the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh and a part of bordering Myanmar.

BNP leader Dudu also said, 鈥榃hat do you [Sheikh Hasina] mean by white skin?鈥

鈥榊ou [Sheikh Hasina] have also admitted that you have given India something that they will never forget. So what do you mean by the word white skin?鈥 he added.

鈥榊ou said, 鈥淭oday the white skins want to build a new state鈥濃攜ou have to clarify this statement because the question of our national independence and sovereignty is raised in these words.鈥

Dudu also said that the government cannot avert its responsibility for the corruption of former army chief General (retired) Aziz Ahmed and former police chief Benazir Ahmed.
