
A seminar on ‘Sheikh Hasina’s 44th Homecoming Day’ was held in Dhaka Thursday afternoon.
Bangladesh Progressive Columnist Forum organised the seminar at National Press Club in the city.
Presided over by Progressive Columnist Forum president and also former Jagannath University vice-chancellor, Professor M Mizanur Rahman, the seminar was addressed by textiles and jute minister Jahangir Kabir Nanok as the chief guest, said a press release.
Islamic University’s former vice-chancellor and also Progressive Columnist Forum’s vice-president, Professor Dr Rashid Askari, delivered speech as the welcome speaker.
Progressive Columnist Forum general secretary and also JnU Bangla department chairman, Professor Milton Biswas, spoke the event as the key-note speaker while National University vice-chancellor Professor M Mashiur Rahman, Barishal University vice-chancellor Professor M Badruzzaman Bhuiyan and Dainik Bangla and News 24 executive director Afizur Rahman spoke as special guests.
Addressing the programme, Dr Rashid Askari said, ‘Sheikh Hasina’s homecoming was not only the return of a person but also the return of the spirit of the liberation war. She is a great visionary leader and transformed Bangladesh from the “basket case” to smart country,’ he added.
Around two hundred participants took part in the seminar, the release said.
