Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan on Monday said that the Dhaka visit of the United States assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian affairs Donald Lu is not important for BNP.
The BNP leader made the comment when talking to reporters at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan after a liaison committee meeting with the leaders of Samamana Jatiyatabadi Jote and Labour Party.
‘In the past, people of Bangladesh solved their problems by themselves and the people will do it in the future too,’ he said.
He also said that BNP would welcome if someone supported the pro-democratic people in Bangladesh and condemn if created obstacle to their struggle for democracy.
He said that the government itself is trying to put blame on BNP by using violence to suppress the movement for democracy.
Donald Lu is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka today on a two-day visit.
About the liaison committee meeting, he said that BNP was now discussing with the parties of simultaneous movement partners to fix the next course of movement.
He said that the country people did not want to see the Awami League in power any more as the party grabbed power through rigging.
