The White Paper, an organisation of a group of artists, celebrated its fifth founding anniversary with a daylong art camp titled Whisper of Green at Khilkhet in Dhaka on Friday.

Thirty artists participated in the art camp, which was organised to create awareness about the Balu River and its ecosystem as the river had gradually become unclean and narrow.

Led by founder of the White Paper, artist Sonya Binta Hasan, artists Biren Shome, Abdus Satter, Tanzil Hasnsin Moin Roneet, Md Abdul Guffar Babu and Palash Datta participated as guest artists in the art camp.

Artists Mesbah Ahmed Liton, Mukul Barman, Afroza Nazmin Lily, Sharmin Rahman and Arkadeep Das, among others, also attended the camp.

The artists drew the landscape of the riverside areas located at Patira, its people and environmental issues related to the area, which were changing due to rapid urbanisation and city tourism.

White Paper began its journey in 2021 to facilitate communication between renowned and young artists both at home and aboard and to put Bangladesh on the global art map.

Mentioning that after its five years journey White Paper is now promoting Bangladeshi arts and artists in the global market, Sonya Binta Hasan said, ‘The White Paper now works with the global art network, International Watercolour Society.’

The organisation planned to work with youth and children artists of the country, she said, adding, ‘We regularly organise art camps, workshops and exhibitions to promote young artists of the country.’

‘We also address environmental issues in our works,’ mentioned Sonya Binta Hasan.
