A five-day group art exhibition titled Waves and Ripples promoting Bangladesh鈥檚 natural beauty, culture and daily life of the people is under way at Safiuddin Shilpalay of Dhanmondi in the capital.

Curated by Kashfia Arif and organised by Akangkha Art Collective founded by artist Anjum Sulaiman, the exhibition inaugurated on October 17 featuring 12 visual artists.


Artists Fareen Ahmed, Shilpi Ali, Sivana Bahar Hiya, Prosenjit Bhadra, Methela Farzana, Kajol Hawladar , Farid Hossain, Md Muslim Mia, S Rana, Monjur Rashid, Sparshopriyo Barshon Roy and Anjum Sulaiman displayed 29 artworks, mostly paintings with some prints and ceramics.

Md Muslim Mia鈥檚 acrylic on canvas titled Fakir Lalon Shah shows the portrait of the legendary mystic bard Fakir Lalon Shah with a traditional acoustic Ekatara and the background of the painting comprises architectures and symbols of different religions practised by the people of South-Asia.聽

Sparshopriyo Barshon Roy鈥檚 woodcut print titled Old Man with his Drum shows a man sitting in religious attire and playing their traditional drum.

Monjur Rashid鈥檚 acrylic on canvas titled Wake Up portrays a rooster on mystery morning light.

Farid Hossain鈥檚 watercolour on paper titled Boats on Sahngoo River Bandarban shows the beauty of a hilly river and boats.

Methela Farzana鈥檚 red clay terracotta titled Gunjon shows an intimate bird couple with floral pattern.

The exhibition will end on October 21.
