The international art exhibition titled ‘No Boundaries 3’ under way at Gallery Illusions in Lalmatia, Dhaka, explores the relationship between humans and nature as well as contemporary issues.

A six-day exhibition has been curated by artist Mahfuza Beauty and organised by Jim Matthew Art Network Dhaka.

It is featuring 45 artworks, including paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures created by 23 artists from Bangladesh, Nepal, Canada and the USA.

The exhibition features artworks by 20 Bangladeshi artists, including Farida Zaman, Wahid Zaman, Rubina Nargism, Sadia Sultana Rana, Manabendra Ghosh, Shyamal Chandra Sarkar, Manashi Banik and others.

Canadian printmaker Karen Cornelius, Nepali painter Saroja Khadgi and American painter Jim Matthew’s artworks have also been displayed at the exhibition, which began on September 5 and has been dedicated to the memory of USA-based artist-curator and organiser of Chironton Art Group, James Matthew.

Karen Cornelius has depicted her experiences of the Arctic region in her alumigraph print titled ‘Parka 2’. The artist is seen wearing a parka, mandatory survival gear which protects a person from high winds, snow fog and minus temperatures.

Jim Matthew’s acrylic on canvas artwork titled ‘At Your Service’ shows an abandoned truck in a farm.

Saroja Khadgi’s acrylic on canvas artwork titled ‘Woman’ depicts a portrait of a Nepali woman donning traditional dress, ornaments and makeup.

Sculptor Manabendra Ghosh’s straw and jute sculpture titled ‘Standstill Time’ shows a person in meditation.

Sadia Sultana Rana’s acrylic on canvas artwork titled ‘The Doll’s House’ shows a colourful house where a woman without hands is sitting with pigeons.

Mahfuza Beauty began her journey as a curator with No Boundaries, organised by Chironton Art Group, in 2019. The first edition of the exhibition was held in Los Angeles in 2019 and the second edition was held in Dhaka in 2023.

‘After the death of artist James Matthew, our mentor and the organiser of the Chironton Art Group we decided to change the name of the group to Jim Matthew Art Network Dhaka to honour his memories and artistic legacy,’ said curator Mahfuza Beauty, who organised her two solo exhibitions in Dhaka and Canada recently.

The exhibition will remain open till September 10.
