A group art exhibition titled Nandonpot is under way at the Gallery Chitrak at Dhanmondi in the capital.

The exhibition accommodates all generation artists’ artworks under one roof sharing visual language of diverse artists.


Noted artists including Hamiduzzaman Khan, Shahid Kabir, Biren Shome, Ivy Zaman and Jamal Ahmed along with young artists Farzana Rahman Bobby, Sourav Chowdhury, Kuntal Barai, Khing Shai Mong Marma and others exhibit their recent artworks at the exhibition. The 10-day exhibition also displays artworks of some academicians including Shamsul Alam Azad, Anisuzzaman Anis, Rashid Amin and Abdus Sattar Toufiq.

The displayed artworks are created in diverse mediums including watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel and mixed media paintings on canvas and paper addressing different socio-cultural issues as well as the impression of surroundings.

Jamal Ahmed’s charcoal and pastel painting titled Part of my Studio depicts a chaotic studio of a painter while Anisuzzaman Anis’ woodcut print series titled Urban Musings shows unplanned urbanisation of the Dhaka city. Kuntal Barai’s acrylic on canvas titled Heritage Ruins shows negligence of heritage in the country by all stakeholders while Khing Shai Mong Marma’s mixed media portrait titled Existence reflect the struggle of national minority communities and Md Faijul Islam’s acrylic on canvas titled Spoiled Food depicts the wastage of food when a lot of people suffer because of scarcity of food.   

‘We try to accommodate all generation artists involved in contemporary art practice to celebrate artistic harmony,’ Md Faijul Islam, an organiser of the exhibition said, adding that the exhibition projected contemporary visual language created by diverse generation artists of the country.

The exhibition was inaugurated on June 21 and will end on June 30.
