Charupith Art Research Institute has organised a two-day exhibition marking its 40th founding anniversary at Jashore Municipal Park, said a press release.

The watercolour exhibition was inaugurated at Charupith Art Gallery by artist Bimanesh Chandra Biswas on Friday. It features 24 artworks by distinguished artists who have paid tribute to SM Sultan.


The exhibition showcases works by AFM Moniruzzaman Shipu, Anadi Kumar Boiragi, Anisha Zaman, Anu Morshed, D D Mollick, Debbroto Das, Homyra Afroza, Kazi Ishrat Shaheed, Mahbub Jamal, Md Adib Saeed, Md Jasim Uddin, Md Shahriar Rahman, Md Rajiuddin Choudhury, Nikhil Chandra Das, Obyed Zakir Rasu, Rakibul Islam Shaheen, Rezaur Rahman, Sajal Banerjee, Samir Kumar Bairagi, Shantwana Shahrin, Sharafat Pasha, Tandra Mukherjee,Tanim Rahman and Uzan Rahman.

The exhibition will end today. The closing ceremony will bring down the curtain on the month-long SM Sultan Centennial Fest.

The month-long fest paid tribute to the legendary artist SM Sultan.

Besides, a children’s drawing festival titled ‘Ichhe Gulo Ako’ was held in memory of the Charupith member the late artist Sohel Pranon on Friday from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at the same venue.

The SM Sultan Centennial Fest, which began on January 13, has featured a series of engaging events.

‘We organised the event to pay tribute to S M Sultan and celebrate four decades of Charupith. We will organise the second phase of the festival in Dhaka in July and August,’ said the festival curator Mrittika Kamal.
