With soft brushstrokes and vibrant colours, artist Mizanur Rahim has portrayed nature and human figures in abstraction in his recent solo art exhibition which is underway at Gallery Chitrak of Dhanmondi in the capital.

The exhibition features his 76 artworks including drawings, paintings and lithography while most of the paintings were created with acrylic on canvas between 2023 and 2024.


Graduated in 1968 from the faculty of fine arts at Dhaka University, artist Mizanur Rahim was the teacher of Chittagong University from 1971 to 2010.

During this time, he has exhibited his artworks in many solo and group art exhibitions in Bangladesh and abroad.

A septuagenarian, his recent paintings have come into large canvas with red, green, blue, yellow and black colour schemes that widely portray the elements of nature and their beauty.

Rainbows, cloud, sky, landscape of hills and river bodies, forest, ocean, stones and rural landscape are the subject of his landscape while his figures depict relations between humans and nature.

Mizanur Rahim studied lithography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium and the exhibition displayed 12 prints created between 1980 and 1986. Some figure drawings with charcoal on paper created between 1978 and 1979 are also part of the exhibition.

Professor Nazrul Islam, emeritus professor at the geography and environment department of Dhaka University, inaugurated the exhibition on June 29, while renowned painter Abul Barak Alvi and artist Abdul Mannan were present at the ceremony as special guests.

Eminent artist and emeritus professor Rafiqun Nabi presided over the ceremony.

The eleven-day exhibition will end on Tuesday.聽
