Drik Picture Library announced the winners of Bangladesh Press Photo Contest 2024 on Monday, said a press release.
Quddus Alam from Focus Bangla bagged the Picture of the Year 2023 award in the competition. The photograph shows women working at a brick kiln in Gaibandha. They are struggling due to amid air pollution.
Kazi Golam Quddus Helal from FIAP won the award in Arts, Culture and Sports while Piyas Biswas from newsbangla24.com won Honourable Mention in the same category. In Politics category, Md Sazid Hossain from The Daily Prothom Alo won the award while Nayem Ali from The Business Standard won Honourable Mention.
Besides, Syed Mahamudur Rahman from Dainik Bangla won in Public Interest Journalism category and Abdul Goni from The Daily Ittefaq won Honourable Mention.
The Picture of the Year 2023 winner will receive Tk 1,00,000, each winner in three categories will receive Tk 50,000 and each honourable mention awardee will receive Tk 10,000.
The awards will be handed over soon.
Drik initiated the Bangladesh Press Photo Contest in 2022 to celebrate photojournalism practice in Bangladesh.
