Narayanganj Charukola Institute lifted the curtain on an eight-day annual art exhibition on its premises on Thursday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Dhaka University drawing and painting department emeritus professor Rafiqun Nabi.


‘The exhibition provides a platform to students for showcasing their talent. Students have displayed mostly pencil-based artworks at this event,’ said Narayanganj Charukola Institute principal Md Shamsul Alam Azad.

The students have depicted diverse subjects through their artworks created using different mediums, including watercolour, poster-colour, pencil, charcoal, ink, oil and acrylic.

The exhibition is featuring 74 artworks. Eighteen works were awarded in different categories at the inaugural ceremony.

Renowned artists Biren Shome, Md Moniruzzaman and Rafiur Rabbi selected the award-winning artworks.

Anindita Roy bagged Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Award, which is the grand award, for her poster colour on paper artwork titled ‘Still Life’.

Anupam Roy bagged Best Award in Drawing category for his pencil sketch titled ‘Figure’, Shib Shankar Mondal won Media Best Award in Pencil category for ‘Close-up Study’ and Azizur Rahman won Media Best Award in Watercolour category for ‘Landscape’.

Osman Goni bagged the Media Best Award in Oil Painting category for ‘Figure Composition’ and Salima Parveen Rinky

won the Media Best Award in Design category for ‘Design’.

Wasama Amin Kaif bagged Safiuddin Ahmed Memorial Award for his watercolour artwork titled ‘Museum Study’, Pronamie Saha Supriya won Mohammad Kibria Memorial Award for her watercolour on paper artwork titled ‘Landscape’ and Sajib Ghosh won Abdur Razzaque Memorial Award for his pencil sketch titled ‘Figure Drawing’.

Mukul Kanti Tripura won SM Sultan Memorial Award for his pencil sketch titled ‘Portrait’

and Shamima Khatun bagged Quamrul Hassan Memorial Award for her ink on paper artwork titled ‘Design’.

Besides, Shahina Akter, Mong Ting Marma, Sumit Chandra Das, Md Tajnin, Sajib Mandal and Avishek Basu won awards in Class Best category.

The exhibition will end on June 6.
