
Women artists have displayed their artworks in a group exhibition titled ‘Aparajitar Rang’ under way at the Safiuddin Shilpalay in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
The exhibition has been organised by women artists’ organisation Jalkanya marking Mother’s Day.
The City Bank Limited is the title sponsor of the exhibition, which is
featuring 35 paintings by 11 artists depicting the beauty of different flowers, including namely Lotus, Sunflower, Orchid, Jaba, Marigold, Cosmos and others.
The floral paintings have been created using different mediums, including watercolour, acrylic and mixed media.
Suporna Alice Gomes, Sabia Nasrin, S B Nusrat Jahan, Nazia Hassan, Roksana Sultana, Taslima Khondokar, Flora Urmila Rodrick, Teresa Esha Gomes, Alina Chakma, Jaquline Ria Rozario and Farhana Tabassum have participated in the exhibition.
Renowned artist Fareha Zeba and actress Momena Chowdhury jointly inaugurated the exhibition on May 12.
The inaugural ceremony also included a cultural programme where Mahi Farhana, Nishat Sharmin Jesmin and Tasnuva Orin recited self-penned poems marking Mother’s Day.
Women artists’ troupe Jalkanya led by Suporna Alice Gomes was founded in 2017. The organisation has been promoting women and children artists, organising exhibitions, art camps and workshops.
The exhibition will end on May 17.
