A group art exhibition titled Ten Shades is underway at Alliance Française de Dhaka at Dhanmondi in the capital, showcasing the work of 10 young artists of Dhaka Art College.

The 11-day exhibition, began on July 11, features 20 paintings in acrylic, watercolor and mixed media on canvas and paper, reflecting scenes from everyday life, fleeting moments, symbolic meanings, contemplation and the rhythm of life.

The paintings particularly celebrate the vibrant and introspective spirit of youth and attempt to blend the figurative with the abstraction and symbolism.

Shekh Humayra Asfaqe, Nowrin Akter, Mrittika Biswas, Orpita Bhowmik, Eliza Chowdhury, Sajjadur Rahman Shihan, Md Daud Haider Shaon, Prottyasha Mahmud, Anik Banik and Pobitro Das are the participating artists.

Anik Banik’s ‘Life and Living 2’ presents the struggle of poor people to earn a living, while Pobitro Das’s ‘Captive Time’ depicts small fishes struggling for water in a small jar. Mrittika Biswas’s watercolor on paper ‘Time Duality 2’ in its hourglass image reflects on the lapse of time.

Prottyasha Mahmud’s ‘Sangsar’ portrays the roles a woman plays through her different ages in her family, and Shekh Humayra Asfaqe attempts Surah Al-Fatiha in calligraphy.

Dhaka Art College, a private institution under National University, was established in 2006 in Rayer Bazar in Dhaka city.

The exhibition will end on Monday.Â
