Academics said at a discussion on Tuesday that writings on academic, philosopher and essayist Sardar Fazlul Karim were not adequate.
The discussion titled Seminar on Birth Centenary of Sardar Fazlul Karim was organised by Bangla Academy in the its Kabi Shamsur Rahman seminar room.
Dhaka University philosophy department associate professor Kazi ASM Nurul Huda presented his keynote paper titled Satta, Samparka O Sadhana: Sardarer ‘Manush’ Dharanar Darshanik Paath at the event while honorary professor of the department Haroonar Rashid and Jahangirnagar University associate professor of the philosophy department, Syed Nizar, spoke on the paper.
Bangla Academy director general Mohammad Azam presided over the event.
The article is based on Sardar Fazlul Karim’s book titled Ami Manush where the author questions the Idea of humans.
‘To destroy in order to construct was the basis of Sardar Fazlul Karim’s philosophy where he doubts everything to know the truth,’ Huda said, adding that the author focuses on a moral human and the relationship between humans and nature.
Syed Nizar said that although Dhaka-based philosophical discourse practised philosophies of the west, Sardar was an organic philosopher of the past century. Â
Haroonar Rashid said that Sardar was inspired by Greek philosopher Plato and German philosopher Karl Marx.
‘Sardar’s human being is a social and ethical being who works to reduce discrimination and morality is the most important issue in current circumstances of the society in all aspects,’ said Haroonar Rashid. Â
Mohammad Azam said that writings on Sardar Fazlul Karim were not sufficient and Huda’s article on Sardar would be a work about our legendary personalities who converted their thinking into methods.
