
Today is the sixth anniversary of death of Ekushey Padak-winning artist Syed Jahangir.
Born on January 1, 1935 at Tala in Satkhira, Syed Jahangir, a former director of fine arts department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, made a notable contribution to launching the Asian Art Biennale of Bangladesh.
The artist held 35 solo exhibitions, and painted 9,000 oils, watercolours and mixed media artworks. His popular paintings include Attmar Ujjiban, Ullas, Dhwani, Ashani-Sangket and Ajana-Anwesha.
He received several award, including the Ekushey Padak in 1985, Bangladesh Charushilpi Sangsad Honour Award, and Hamidur Rahman Award.
The artist passed away on December, 29, 2018.
