The National Sports Council on Wednesday ordered all sports federations to form and send the names of a complaint committee for sexual harassment of women by November 19.Â
The NSC, referring to a ruling of the High Court on May 14, 2009, stated that it was mandatory for all sporting governing bodies to have such a committee.Â
According to the letter issued by Ruhul Amin, assistant director, the committee must consist of five members, including three women.Â
The letter also stated that if a victim wouldn’t get the necessary treatment or wouldn’t be satisfied with the result of the process, she could go to the NSC to resubmit her allegation.Â
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has recently formed an inquiry committee consisting of five members—including two women—to investigate the sexual allegations made by former national women’s team captain Jahanara Alam in an interview.
