The Bangladesh Swimming Federation has appointed Egyptian Saeed Magdy as coach for their preparation ahead of the 14th South Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Pakistan from January 23 to 31, 2026. 

Magdy is also Bangladesh’s first foreign swimming coach in six years since Japanese coach Takeo Inoki left the job in 2019.


Magdy, who served as a national coach for over a decade across Malaysia, Kenya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, started to work with the swimmers at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex on Friday, the day after he arrived in Bangladesh to officially take charge.

‘He has been appointed for seven months, till January 2026. He will be paid $3,500 per month. He has already started the activity with the swimmers at the pool,’ BSF general secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shahin told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Saturday.

Shahin also informed that Magdy will also work with the swimmers, who will participate in the third Youth Asian Games in Bahrain from October 22 to 31 and the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia from November 7 to 21.
