Bangladesh had to settle for a bronze medal at the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship, as they suffered a 41-18 defeat against Iran in the semi-final held in Pardis, Tehran, Iran on Friday.

Bangladesh earlier confirmed the bronze medal by reaching the semi-finals of the seven-nation tournament when they beat Thailand 42-27 in their Group A final.

This was the second time Bangladesh secured a medal, as they last won a bronze in the tournament’s inaugural edition in 2005.

Bangladesh started their group campaign with a 64-23 point defeat to holders and four time champions India before beating Malaysia 52-12 in the second game.

In the other day’s semi-final, Group A champions India beat Group B runners-up Nepal by 56-18 points.

India will play hosts Iran in the sixth edition final of the championship today.
