Bangladesh kept their semi-final hopes alive in the seven-nation Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship with a commanding 52-12 victory over Malaysia in their Group A second match in Pardis, Iran on Thursday.ÌýÌýÌý

Bangladesh dominated the first half by 27-5 points and maintained their momentum throughout the second half.


Earlier in the day, Bangladesh suffered a 64-23 points defeat to holders and four-time champions India while Malaysia lost to Thailand by 45-24 points.

Bangladesh, who secured a bronze medal in the maiden edition of the tournament in 2005, will play the four-team group final against Thailand today.

In Group B, hosts Iran defeated Iraq by 58-13 points in their opening match.Ìý

Bangladesh, India, Thailand, and Malaysia are pitted in Group A while Iran, Nepal and Iraq are placed in Group B.Ìý

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals today, while the final to take place on March 8.
